Concert Works
I have written many works for the concert hall. My piece “Omega Machina” (written in 2016 for percussion trio and instrumental metal band) solidified my path as a composer of classical/popular crossover works. Since then, I have written a master’s thesis dedicated to genre transcendence, culminating in my first album, Eclectic. During my studies abroad at the University of Tasmania in Fall of 2017, I composed Funny Talking, an aleatoric work for two unspecified groups of instruments and backing track (using dialogue from the film When Harry Met Sally). This tongue-in-cheek parody features a mix of free improvisation, speech imitation, electronic dance music, and metal influences. I was fortunate enough to have the piece performed twice at UTAS during my stay. I have decided to make the score/parts and backing track to this work available here for free as an example of my work.
Film/Game Music
I’ve had the pleasure of composing music for a number of independent films at my university, including “Camino” (2016, directed by Justin Herring), “The Fast One” (2016, directed by Peyton Paulette), and “Sins of the Fathers” (2017, directed by Ethan Cartwright). I also have experience in creating music and sound effects for independent games. My DAWs of choice when composing for games and cinema are primarily Logic Pro X and Reason. When notation is called for, my software of choice is Finale, an industry standard. I attribute my success in film/game scoring to my love of movies and games in general - regardless of era or genre, if it’s good, I’m probably gonna love it!
Arranging, Transcription, and Engraving
I have over five years of experience in arranging, transcription, and engraving. I have done arrangements of pop songs for various student ensembles, engraved choral works to professional standards, and have made several adaptations from one ensemble to another. I have experience in both classical and jazz arrangement.
